Kragerup Gods

The Manor Stable

After the manor stable "Herskabsstalden" was completed, Sophus Dinesen chose to build a new building for his own carriage and riding horses, as well as for the fine horse-drawn carriages. This is where the manor's horses, including riding horses and their foals, as well as all horse-drawn carriages, were housed. In the summer, the carriages were frequently used for Sunday outings in open horse-drawn carriages. During the war, it was forbidden to drive a car, so horse-drawn carriages were used extensively for transportation, including to the station, for dinners in the neighbourhood, and to the beach in the summer.

At the end of herskabsstalden, there were two rooms where the gardening apprentice and the shooting apprentice lived. This is where rooms 11 and 12 are located today.

Renovation with a Well-Known Architect

Jens Kraft Dinesen took over Kragerup in 1910 and chose to renovate both the main building and herskabsstalden in 1913. He enlisted one of the most famous architects of the time, Jens Ingwersen, for assistance. Ingwersen proposed adding a small tower to a new entrance to the main building. While the new entrance to the main building was not constructed, since the architect had drawn up plans for a fine little tower, they decided to use it. Therefore, the tower was added to herskabsstalden, which can still be seen today. Architect Jens Ingwersen renovated and rebuilt many of the country's manors between 1905 and 1950.

Up to the Present Day

Herskabsstalden later became a car garage, and in 2003, Birgitte first converted it into six hotel rooms, and in 2007, an additional seven rooms were added.
