Erik Sophus Dinesen (1928–2005) was born on February 29, 1928, at Kragerup Estate. He started working for landowner Henrik Brun in England but was involved in a motorcycle accident in 1951, resulting in a three-month stay at Norwich Hospital. Upon returning to Denmark, Erik continued to be bedridden with complications, including hip and knee surgeries. He only partially regained his working capacity by 1953.
On September 28, 1956, Erik married Marie-Louise Bohn (1935-) at Vedbæk Church. During their years at Kragerup Estate, Marie-Louise completely transformed the garden and park into an English-style layout with large lawns and viewpoints overlooking the main building and fields. Erik and Marie-Louise had three children: Birgitte Ida Dinesen, Anne Viveka Dinesen, and Charlotte Dinesen.
Erik was involved in various organizations, where he was either a member, founding member, or chairman. He was also appointed as hofjægermester and chamberlain. He ran the family’s old estate, Gl. Wiffertsholm, but had to return to Kragerup Estate following a major fire. After the fire, he restored the estate and invested in new buildings and agriculture. The new buildings included pig production facilities and new grain drying systems. Kragerup's main building also underwent a thorough restoration from 1966 to 1967.
In the 1980s, Erik Dinesen expanded, improved, and beautified the large and beautiful family graveyard at Ørslev Cemetery, ensuring it would be preserved for future generations. Erik passed away in 2005 at the age of 77.
In havestuen, there is a painting of three small children, with the middle child being Erik Dinesen alongside his two siblings.
