Sophie Magdalene Dinesen (1779-1866) was born on June 9, 1779, at Gyldenholm Estate and was the sister of the first Dinesen of Kragerup Estate, Jens Kraft Dinesen (1768-1827). It is said that Sophie was very beautiful in her youth. The portrait painter Hans Hansen, who met her when she was 17, fell deeply in love with her and wrote about her:

"She is exceedingly beautiful and as good as she is beautiful, and as virtuous as she is good, and as lovely as the lily in its splendor. Venus Urania illuminates her beautiful eyes and lets the rose of innocence bloom on her charming cheeks."

Sophie and her sisters had very beautiful singing voices and sang both Danish and French songs. At the age of 20, she married Lieutenant Jacob de Neergaard (1778-1833). Her husband died at the age of 56, and they had no children. Afterward, Sophie married her brother-in-law, Colonel Peter Frederik Steinmann.

Sophie passed away in 1866 in Copenhagen and left no children.
