Kragerup Gods

Johanne Ulrica Birgitte Christine Gøring ENG

Johanne Ulrica Birgitte Christine Gøring (1774-1829) was born on December 7, 1774, in Næstved. She married into the Dinesen family with Jens Kraft Dinesen (1768-1827) on April 10, 1795. Jens was the first Dinesen of Kragerup Estate. The couple had a total of eight children: four sons and four daughters. Their firstborn son, Anders Didrich, lived only 14 months. Their third child, Severine Dorothea Marie, lived only 13 years. Among the six children who survived childhood were the twins Magnus and Hanne Emilie.

Johanne was the daughter of Major in the Zealand cavalry regiment Hans Diderich Gøring and Maria Cathrine Jacobsen. She herself was one of eight siblings.

When her husband Jens passed away in 1827, Johanne announced his death as follows:

"To all absent relatives and friends, it is with deepest sorrow that I announce the passing of my dearly beloved husband, Justice Councilor Jens Kraft Dinesen, who left this earthly life on Wednesday the 29th of this month after several years of frailty. Four children receive him in eternity, and six mourn with me the loss of the beloved, righteous father."

Johanne passed away during a visit to Slagelse on January 6, 1829. She was interred at St. Mikkels Church and was buried on January 13, 1829, at Ørslev Church.
